KOKA is not just a musical experience, but a state of mind. The sultry strums of rhythm guitars, and intricate vocal harmonies, combined with flute and steel drums, are underscored by strong, expressive percussion.
The diverse musical backgrounds of KOKA's members have been united into a unique and compelling sound that combines over 25 years of individual experience in the music industry.

KOKA'S blend of originals and cover tunes transports you to the tropics on a tasteful and evocative journey of Latin, reggae, pop, and jazz.
It is not just our sound that will entice you....but the mood that lingers long after and draws you back again and again.

The Band

Pam Minson

Pam Minson's passion for music began early, and she performed acoustically in the 70's on the shore as well as New York & New England, where she went to school. After marriage and children, she returned to the music scene in 1995 as a lead singer with Norman Seldin in  The Stormin' Norman Band. She also co-wrote a song with Norman called "Little Boy" for his "House Special" album. Since then she has worked with Dr. Bob & Co., Stormin' Norman & Steel Breeze, Comfort Zone and McCarthy & McCoy Band, as well as with Dave McCarthy as an acoustic duo. She has been a member and featured singer of Holiday Express since 1996, and has also performed annually in the Twilight Concert, a benefit for Aids Resource Foundation for Children since 1997. In 2003 she joined forces with the combined talents of Scott Paden and Tom Minson in KOKA, bringing her strong lead vocals and harmonies as well as her rhythm guitar to the mix. This is not her first collaboration with Scott, however, as they recorded two songs as a duo on the original soundtrack for George Severini's musical, Spirit, in 1996.

Tom Minson

Tom is arguably the hardest working percussionist on the Jersey Shore. He has been perfoming his multi-instrumental abilities since the 80's with the Mike Fitzgerald Band, and has played with local talents such as The Candle Brothers, Primitive Soul, Stormin' Norman & Steel Breeze, and RAIN creating beautiful music from the congas' exotic rhythm to the sweet melodic tones of the steel drums, to his fluid haunting flute solos. He has been performing with Holiday Express since 2000, a local not-for-profit organization bringing music, food, and holiday spirit to many people in the tri-state area soup kitchens, hospices, homeless shelters and hospitals. He is also a musician involved in the Twilight Concert for Children with Aids, which has been held annually since 1996.  He performs as a soloist on the steel drums for a variety of occasions, including wedding ceremonies, wedding cocktail hours, and any corporate or private event!

Scott Paden

Singer-songwriter Scott Paden is one of the most versatile and intuitive vocalists to ever serenade a senorita on a Saturday night. His witty songs and exceptional intonation have kept him in the forefront of the Jersey Shore music scene for over 32 years. As the principal writer and arranger for such legendary bands, as GUILDERSLEEVE; EARTHSTAR; JAVA; and now, more recently, KOKA,......Scott's amazing ear for harmony has assured him a place in the Jersey Shore's Hall of Fame.  As a finalist in the International John Lenon SongWriting Contest, with a latin/pop tune, Scott continues to write songs  for KOKA that reflect their latin, jazz, calypso, reggae, and pop styles. His flamboyant guitar playing is sometimes punctuated by his often amusing "mouth trumpet".  Scott is also a featured vocalist in Holiday Express, where he's been a member since their inception, in 1993.
